Dwingeloo<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The authentic village of Dwingeloo offers lots of entertainment. Het Buitenlokaal is located just outside the tourist village of Dwingeloo. Dwingeloo is an authentic brink village with several restaurants, terraces and stores. There is also an outdoor swimming pool and an ice cream shop. Grab your bike and ride 2.5 kilometers between the farmlands to the village for a snack or a drink on the terrace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Experience Space!<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Dwingeloo and astronomy have long been inextricably linked. In 1956 a large radio telescope was established on the edge of the heath with which various discoveries of the sky were made. The radio telescope is now an industrial national monument and can be visited periodically. Partly because of the famous radio telescope, Dwingeloo carries the slogan Beleef de Ruimte!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nature<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Het Buitenlokaal is surrounded by beautiful nature. Drenthe is not called the primeval province of the Netherlands for nothing. Far away from the hustle and bustle you can be one with nature here. The Buitenlokaal is surrounded by beautiful nature reserves. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Nationaal Park Dwingelderveld<\/a> and the Nationaal Park Drents-Friese Wold<\/a> are both just 4 kilometers from Het Buitenlokaal. With endless bicycle paths and hiking trails, there is plenty of room to experience nature.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Swim, sun or walk in the beautiful nature reserve the Leggelderveld 4 km from The Buitenlokaal. On hot days you can cool off in the middle of nature in swimming lake Het Blauwe Meer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Outdoor sports<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Sporty outings from Het Buitenlokaal. Sporty minded? Het Buitenlokaal is a fantastic vacation spot for lovers of mountain biking, running, hiking and cycling. There are various mountain bike routes through the woods, cycling routes through the countryside and challenging running routes. Climb the Col du Vam where the European cycling championships were held in 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Culture<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

A cultural outing near. For culture lovers, the Shakespeare theater in Diever is a must. A special performance in the middle of the forest in the open air. Outside the summer season, there are small-scale performances in the indoor Globetheater.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Also visit the Colonies of Weldadigheid in Frederiksoord and the surrounding area. The area was recently included on UNESCO’s World Heritage List. Take a look at De Proefkolonie there and go back in time 200 years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A little further, in Veenhuizen you will find the Prison Museum. Other museums we recommend: the Drents Museum in Assen and the Stedelijk Museum Meppel. In Groningen, you can have plenty of cultural fun in the Forum (with a top view of the city) and the Groninger Museum, among others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
